In addition to our traffic data and passenger survey, we will also take a closer look this year at the Abu Dhabi hotel/hotel apartment statistics. 2011 was a record breaking year in terms of hotel guests to the capital (Click here to view 2011 hotel guests post). It seems that this was no exception with guest arrivals in Jan 2012 growing by a staggering 28.8%.
Even with significant hotel stock coming online in 2011, occupancy rates were at a respectable 66% for the month of Jan. The United Kingdom led the way in terms of guests by nationality however hot on the heels and showing significant growth of 45% and 64% respectively were Indian and German hotel guests visiting the UAE Capital. New services by Etihad into the China market helped boost Chinese guests with more than 4,400 staying in Abu Dhabi during Jan 2012; an impressive growth of 235%.
In fact when you consider all regions, it is clear that growth in hotel guests is not confined to a single area. The European and Asian markets for example present both significant volume and growth in terms of hotel guests. This trend is certainly likely to continue considering the fact that new hotel stock will come online this year with even more attractions set for 2012.
As with our traffic data and passenger survey material, the PDF attached is just a dashboard view highlighting some of the key statistics relating to hotel/hotel apartment guests in the Capital. We are more than happy to provide further analysis on specific markets should this be required. Feel free to get in contact if you have any further requests.
