Firstly, on behalf of ADAC Airline Marketing, I would like to wish all our blog readers, a happy and prosperous New Year for 2013. We anticipate a big year ahead of us and plan on making some more announcements through our blog and through other social media platforms (More on this to come!). However, before we start posting any further news on 2013, we still have to deliver some traffic statistics for 2012. I’ve wrapped up October and November in this post. We also hope to provide a full year review for 2012 later on this month.

September 2012 passengers grew by 14.5%
In September 2012, with 1,243,646 passengers passing through its facilities, Abu Dhabi International Airport has achieved a 14.5% growth for the month and 20.7% year to date compared to 2011. The consistent double digit growth in passenger traffic is fuelled by both the home carrier Etihad Airways and other operators as the airport is seeing the benefit of the expanding list of worldwide destinations and increased frequencies of the past twelve months. In September the airport has also witnessed the commencement of the first domestic flights by Rotana Jet to Fujairah and Al Ain.

Passenger Survey completes one full year
Back in February we have shared with you, a summary of the first six months results from our passenger survey. Since then, our airport survey team has kept busy working 24/7, and has reached almost 40,000 interviews in the first full year.
One year’s worth of data has provided us with a fully representative sample of our passengers, allowing us to drill down into our passenger demographics on a route by route basis and by airline. These data results have enabled us to gain key insight into our passenger profile in areas such as their origin and destination, spending habits, and our airport’s image compared to some of our competitors. With data collected throughout the year, we are now able to observe the seasonality in each one of the attributes as well.
