It’s fairly easy to highlight some of the re-occurring events or attractions in Abu Dhabi that will attract visitors to the Capital. Formula 1 Grand Prix, Mubadala Tennis Championship, Volvo Ocean Yacht Race, Summer in Abu Dhabi Festival are all but a few that spring to mind. However, here’s a few which probably wouldn’t have reached the tip of most people’s tongues yet they are definitely worth highlighting as things to expect for 2012.

Monthly hotel statistics – Further insight into the Abu Dhabi market
In addition to our traffic data and passenger survey, we will also take a closer look this year at the Abu Dhabi hotel/hotel apartment statistics. 2011 was a record breaking year in terms of hotel guests to the capital (Click here to view 2011 hotel guests post). It seems that this was no exception with guest arrivals in Jan 2012 growing by a staggering 28.8%.

Abu Dhabi Airports Company Announces Ground Breaking Of Premier Inn Hotel at Abu Dhabi International Airport
Premier Inn hotel, UK’s most popular hotel brand will soon be coming to Abu Dhabi International airport.
ADAC and Premier Inn has signed an agreement which is part of the initiative to promote Public Private Partnership ( PPP ) projects within the emirate.
The hotel is expected to open by mid March 2013, and will offer 300 rooms at a value for money proposition to the business/transit passengers flying from or to the airport. The hotel will also extend services like contemporary restaurant, meeting rooms, swimming pool etc.

Cleveland Clinic Coming To Abu Dhabi Next Year
Mubadala Healthcare, which is a unit of Mubadala Development, has announced that Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, a facility being built on Sowwah Island, will start its operations from fourth quarter of next year.
Mubadala is a strategic investment company owned by the Abu Dhabi Government.
The hospital, which is modelled on the reputed Cleveland Clinic in the US, will have 364 beds, with the option to increase that to 490 beds. The clinic is designed to operate five different specialist institutes covering digestive disease, eye, heart & vascular disorders, neurological treatment, and respiratory & critical care.

Abu Dhabi Airports Company receives Executive Council approval to build the Midfield Terminal Complex
Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has received approval from the Executive Council for the construction of the new Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC) at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The Midfield Terminal Building, expected to go live in the first half of 2017, is the key component of the MTC development program at the airport, and will contribute to the long-term success of the aviation sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
